Question: How does the food of Argentina compare to that of Australia? What are typical meals?
Answer:  In Argentina I was really wanting a good breakfast. It seemed like no one had breakfast in Argentina. You could get coffee and baked goods, but I never saw french toast, pancakes or waffles. In fact Nick and Chanda went on a quest, but came up empty. Here in Australia, it is easy to get the typical English breakfast, beans, eggs, toast, and even a stewed tomato hash browns.
In Argentina the big thing was steak. I have never in my life had a finer cut of beef than I had when was in Argentina. However, Argentina  is kind of confusing when you order in restaurants. You have to  order your piece of meat and then side dishes separately. If you order a steak, you will just get a steak.
Australians love their fish dinners, for the most part Australian eat a lot of  meat pies, steak, sausages, and potatoes. All the major fast food chains are represented as well.

Question: Did you surf in Australia yet? Can you also tell me about the history of the island, and the surf conditions?
Answer: Wow, asking about how the waves are in Australia is a big question to answer.  Have you ever thought about how LARGE AUSTRALIA is????  It is about the same size as the United States, and the entire county is surrounded by ocean.  So imagine how many different climates and variables come into play for surf conditions.
Overall, the surf in Australia is phenomenal!  There are really big waves, there are perfect point breaks, there are heavy barreling reef breaks, and fun beach breaks.  And it all depends where you go and when.  The East coast, where Sydney and the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are, boast the most crowded waves in the country, but also incredible waves.  Kirra Point, or Burleigh Heads, or Lennox Heads are just a few of the perfect and famous waves of the East Coast.  Also, it depends what part of the East Coast you are on, the north or south, because they take different swell seasons.  I like the East Coast plenty, but there are quite a few surfers and it can get pretty aggressive in the water.
I prefer the WEST Coast of Australia.  Over there, there is nothing in the ocean between Antartica and the West Coast, so all the swells from the south come up and pound the coastline.  Also, the West Coast doesn't have a long shallow shelf, so the waves come from really deep water and just pound the coastline and produce really powerful and heavy waves.  There are barreling reef breaks all over the place. It is really consistent and the surf isn't nearly as crowded as the East Coast, in fact, many of the spots have no one around at all!
As for the South Coast, they get really good waves with much colder water and a ton of great white sharks, yikes.  There have been a few people who have been chomped down there.  Actually, even on the East Coast, up in the north, there are sharks too.
And as for the north coast, there aren't any waves up there that I know of, it isn't really facing the open ocean.
You should definetely plan a trip to OZ someday, you will love it.  The surf is epic!

Question: is it hard catching the animals
Answer: This depends on the type of animal. Last night when we were walking home from dinners. We saw several different types of possums, I think three. They were roaming around the trees and garbage cans. Unfortunately it is not safe to touch these creatures, as they might bite. If it was not dangerous to touch them we could have easily caught them. There is a wide variety of animals here, if you know a lot about them you can easily catch them.

Question: In Australia are the rocks different than California
Answer:  At first site many of the rocks would seem similar in California and Australia. However, there are several factors that would make them a lot different. California's earthquake and volcanic history account for some of the differences. California has more volcanoes than Australia. When a volcano erupts, material from  below the earth's crust is blown into the air. At that point the hot lava cools very quickly forming unique types of rocks, rocks where you will see air holes. Pumice is a good example of this. Also, although rocks look similar on the surface they made be made up of different minerals, for instance, the more red a rock is often is a marker of how much iron is in a rock.  Rocks can be formed from a number of different minerals, these minerals will affect the color, and properties of different rocks.
Another way to explore the differences in rocks is to compare what is mined in Australia and California.

Question: Can you be SICK??????
Answer: We all get sick at one time or another. That is why it is important to have a team on these expeditions. If one person gets sick, others can take over. However, it is important for the team that everyone take good care of themselves, as there is much to and only a limited number of people to get the work done. We need a complete and healthy team as much as possible.
