The area encourages scientific interest for both natural and social sciences due to the diversity of its natural ecosystems and cultural features. In 1981, UNESCO declared this park a Biosphere Reserve of Humankind because of its extraordinary biological diversity and its incredible genetic value as well as for the indigenous tribes that still maintain and practice their ancestral customs. This tropical rainforest of 579,000 ha (1,400,000 acres) is situated in the eastern part of the country, bordering on Colombia and is the largest protected nature area of Central America and the Caribbean. It is made up of mountain ranges reaching 2,500 m (7,500 ft) and rivers (Tuira and Chucunaque). The forests of this park house many extraordinary plant species that are unique in the world as well as some extraordinary beautiful animals, like the Jaguar (Felis Onca) and the Harpy Eagle (Harpia Harpyja).

Asked... Question: Was it hard going through most of the continents? Answer: The hardest thing is getting in and out of the countries. It sometimes takes a long time with paperwork and inspections.  The roads have been pretty good, except there were a lot of potholes in the Costa Rican roads. It is amazing to think of all the different areas we have been. We have been through desert, jungles, forests, rivers; Wow it has been great!

Asked... Question: do you guys learn their own languages Answer: Currently, we are all learning Spanish since they speak Spanish in South America. Although we would like to learn all the different language of the regions we are in, we sometimes just learn a few phrases. It is always important to learn how to say, hello, thank you, and where is the bathroom.

We haven't done a lot of cooking as the price of food is very cheap.
